#148 – Payment by Stripe not showing

This is a public ticket. Everybody will be able to see its contents. Do not include usernames, passwords or any other sensitive information.

Just installed this payment method.
First quick setup it showed up. After entering all Stripe details, it was not showing up anymore.
Finally now I unstalled the plugin, did a fresh installation and setup (first again in test-mode) but it don't show the payment method anymore.
Joomla 3.6.5 and Virtuemart 3.0.18
Any tips ?
Due to an older template, it is not possible to update virtuemart. And as it has shown up once in the beginning, it as worked ?

Thank you for using our plugin for VirtueMart.
1. Very important check: Is there any third-party OPC (one page checkout) installed, or a special template or customisation for the checkout page?
If yes, please test again with only the default VirtueMart OPC enable.
2. It may be a quick template tweak. Please could you try a full checkout test transaction with the default Joomla template?
3. Also, for a multilingual website, please check that every payment method is available in each language: you may need to login in the Joomla back end with each installed language, at the login page.

Tried with above but the same result.
Something strange :
- when add the new payment option, without any setting (so test mode standard) and select 'save and close' > then when testing, the new (Stripe) payment option is shown,
- At Admin site, when I select the payment option, and do not even change any setting, and select 'save' again > then when testing, the payment option has disappeared,
- Again when at admin site, changing the payment option from e.g. stripe to 'standard' and 'save' again > the payment option is again available ???
It looks that there is a setting in this Stripe payment method, that is not taking into accound the first time it is activated ?

It looks strange to me, as there is nothing specific or fancy on the Stripe plugin admin side.
What do you mean there? Are you changing the Payment Method from Stripe to Standard when editing an existing Payment method? It is like creating a New payment method:
So yes, one needs to Save once to get the Configuration panel, and then Save again to save the Configuration settings. As the plugin has been created before, the Settings from the Database can re-appear, that is expected.

Otherwise, we need to check if it is related only to the Stripe payment method. Please could create a New payment method with Authorize.net, Klarna, 2Checkout, for example ? Then could you do the same save/cancel/save to see if the same issues occur?

What do you mean there? Are you changing the Payment Method from Stripe to Standard when editing an existing Payment method? It is like creating a New payment method:
In the top toolbar, click Save. This will load the configuration parameters into the Configuration tab for the Payment plugin type you just selected.
So yes, one needs to Save once to get the Configuration panel, and then Save again to save the Configuration settings. As the plugin has been created before, the Settings from the Database can re-appear, that is expected.

I created a new other payment method (klarna) and the same issue. After first quick creation and 'save', it is shown as payment option.
After a second save, it disappeared.
So the problem is not related to your Stripe-plugin ... sorry :-/ to bother you ...
If you have any further tips to explore what can be source of this problem, thanks in advance.

No worries Wim, you did not bother me. We are all learning every day!
Does it work after the second Save? If yes, I would suggest to leave it like this.
A quick fix would be to Save twice, instead of one, when you have to Edit the payment method.
I'm sure you may find further help in the VirtueMart forum, as it happens with the default VM payment method.
If you are comfortable enough with VM, and if you have a full backup, and access to the Database (PhpMyadmin, or something else from your Hosting control panel), you may try to uninstall the Stripe plugin and delete its DB table, named `##_virtuemart_payment_plg_stripe` (only if you don't have past orders or payments that you want to keep). And then the row relevant with the same `virtuemart_paymentmethod_id` inside `##_virtuemart_paymentmethods` and `##_virtuemart_paymentmethods_en_gb` and other languages if any, for example `_virtuemart_paymentmethods_nl_be`.

Once you go through the documentation and try out the settings (and don't forget to test it with a "test item", it works like a dream.
Ease of use
Very easy to use, though a little play with the settings may be needed to get an understanding of the system. And you need a stripe account.
